Music Centre
Laerskool Bergland
A few years ago, a house opposite the school was converted into a well-equipped music centre! The lovely garden adds to the beautiful surroundings from which music lessons are offered.
Individual tuition is offered in:
- Piano
- Recorder
- Keyboard
- Transverse flute
The Music teachers organize music concerts twice a year where participants have the opportunity to play in front of parents and interested parties. At the Nelspruit Eisteddfod, our music students regularly achieve exceptional achievements.
The Music Centre has a well-equipped marimba room where marimba group classes are offered. Grade 2 - 7 pupils may audition to be accepted into a marimba group. These groups always excel at the Nelspruit Eisteddfod.

Die Musieksentrum het altesaam 45 items (die marimbgroepe en kore ingesluit) ingeskryf vir die 2024 Nelspruit Eisteddfod. 25 A++, 13 A+ en 8 A simbole is verwerf. Twee leerders is ook as wenners in hulle kategorieë aangewys.
Die Junior- en Seniorkoor het by die 2024 Nelspruit en die Nasionale Eisteddfod opgetree. Die kore het onderskeidelik A++ en A+ behaal by die 2024 Nelspruit Eisteddfod. By die 2024 Nasionale Eisteddfod is die Juniorkoor as itemwenners aangewys, terwyl die seniorkoor ‘n ambassadeurstoekenning, wat toegeken word vir die Top 3% uitstaande uitvoerings, behaal.
Two music concerts for the individual piano, keyboard and recorder learners were presented. Every learner, even the learners who had just started music lessons, got the opportunity to perform. As part of the VonkelFees, the choirs and marimba groups had a concert together with the acting group. Each individual learner, as well as the marimba group and choir members, received a certificate at the end of the year at the Music Centre's Recognition events which were presented after the concerts.
Marimbagroepe vanaf Gr. 2 tot Gr. 7 is afgerig. Nagenoeg 110 leerders was betrokke. Die Gr. 4 – 7 groepe het ook deelgeneem aan die 2024 Nelspruit en Nasionale Eisteddfod. By die Nelspruit Eisteddfod was daar slegs een ander skool wat deelgeneem het en ons is trots om te sê dat ons skool die enigste skool is wat, volgens ons kennis, soveel marimbas en ‘n spesiale marimbaklas het. Laerskool Bergland se marimbagroepe is bekend vir hulle kleurvolle kostuums en afgeronde spel. Ons groepe het, regdeur die bank, A++ simbole by die 2024 Nelspruit eisteddfod behaal. Die Gr. 7 groep het ook by die 2024 Nasionale Eisteddfod ‘n ambassadeurstoekenning vir hulle uitstekende optrede verwerf.

Vonkelfees
The sparks are really flying! All Bergies with a music, dance, drama, singing and art talent are encouraged to be part of Bergland Primary School's brand new, sparkling, dazzling "Vonkel Fees!"
We are looking for learners with the X-factor to enchant the audience with their artistry. An art exhibition forms part of the festival and learners can display their masterpieces for all to admire!

It is a requirement that pieces that are performed are KNOWN AND WELL PREPARED. Items that have already been performed at external competitions (eg Eisteddfod / SACOPA) MAY BE PERFORMED AGAIN. Learners who want to enter works of art for the exhibition must register and may submit more than one 'masterpiece' per learner.
This is a golden opportunity for all future stars and artists!

Bekkige Bergies
The school annually holds an internal public speaking competition for Gr 2 - 7 learners. This competition is known as the "Bekkige Bergies"!
Learners who can talk a dog out of a forest, can reason well and have the potential to maybe one day be our future President, take part! (In short, these are the Bergies who can comfortably talk in front of and with others).
Sê jou Sê Interskole
Laerskool Bergland het in 2023 die HEEL EERTSE Laeveld Streek Interskole Redenaars geloots! Ons nooi skole van die kontrei uit om deel te vorm van hierdie inisiatief. Die tonge klap by ons Interskole Redenaars! Hierdie is ‘n gulde geleentheid vir talentvolle leerders om hul beredenerings-vaardighede ten toon te stel en met die “Pittige Prater”-trofee te pronk.
Die verteenwoordiger skryf ‘n totaal van agt (8) leerders van Graad 2 tot Graad 7 in om hul skool te verteenwoordig. Daar is vier (4) kategorië nl. Afrikaans Huistaal, Afrikaans Eerste Addisionele Taal, English Home Language en English First Additional Language. Leeders MAG gebruik maak van hul reeds bestaande toesprake wat gebruik was tydens ander kompetisies die jaar (bv. Interne, Radikale en/of ATKV-redenaars). Eksterne beoordelaars word ingespan om die deelnemers en hul beredeneerde toesprake te beoordeel. Die totale van elke deelnemer per skool word gekombineer en ‘n wenskool word sodoende aangekondig.
